I am wanting to pass the baton on to a younger Classic Car enthusiast, who wishes to add an interesting and useful skill to his/her resume. This is a hobby sized operation and is not a full-time business, however someone with self-belief and a desire to improve themselves, would see the long-term benefits. I particularly prefer a younger person who is not above realizing that we older enthusiasts are dying out and a younger generation is essential to carry these skills into the future. Classic car numbers might decrease in time, like their current owners, but restorations and maintenance of the classics, and the rebuilding of components will always be in demand.
I am offering to teach the selected person the skillsets required, provide the tools and equipment, and provide current stocks of carburettors – new parts, restored parts, partly rebuilt and untreated carburettor stock. Equipment includes – a medium sized and modified sand blasting cabinet, near new air compressor 3.5hp 320L/min, air hoses, large bench drill press, various reamers and minor electrical hand tools. New SU parts include, various SU carburettor parts (can be itemised) but would include all new SU carburettor spindles, butterfly discs, spindle bushes, needles, seals jets, etc etc.
Please note: The special reamers and spindle bushes that I use are world class, and are supplied by Joe Curto, the highly regarded USA Carburettor rebuilder. The cost of acquiring the above is to be negotiated and will be very reasonable, because I would prefer to offer it at a reasonable price, rather than to see my descendants let it go to auction or worse, to the scrap heap.
Please lodge an expression of interest to: Maurie Prior, C/- MG Car Club Hunter Region NSW.
