Save Wakefield Park – ePetition

Wakefield Park Raceway in Goulburn has been adversely affected by a decision made by the NSW Land & Environment Court. At risk is the capacity for Wakefield to remain in business as one of only two remaining permanent, full-length motorsport facilities in NSW.

This decision has also affected the Goulburn Region, which is looking at a significant economic loss due to this decision.

An ePetition has been proposed for the NSW Legislative Assembly to look at the issues and to work with the local Council to establish a viable interim solution and to look at long-term options as well.

The ePetition is open to all NSW Residents and is available to sign online until 28 October.

See here for the ePetition

Please sign this petition today as 20,000 signatures are required for it to be put to the Legislative Assembly.

2022 GOF – Entries Closing 12 August

With the 2022 Gathering of the Faithful, in Wagga Wagga on the 9th, 10th and 11th of September, fast approaching, we are sending a friendly reminder that entries close on Friday 12th August. Thank you again to those who have already sent their entry form in.

We would like to advise that we will be following all current COVID-19 safety guidelines throughout our event. In regard to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, we understand that this is expected to peak in August. We do however ask that you please assess your own risks when attending our event and determine whether you you feel the risks outweigh the benefits. We will be monitoring the NSW Health website and will be keeping entrants posted with any
updates via email.

This year we would like to highlight the following for the GoF:

  • This year we will celebrate the 25th GoF. We ask entrants to dress with a touch of silver at our formal dinner on Saturday night!
  • The Noggin'and Natter on Friday night will be at the Mercure Wagga again, however, this year, due to COVID-19 it will be a two-course meal rather than a buffet. Our Saturday night dinner is at also at Mercure Wagga. Please remember this venue is centrally located when booking your accommodation.
  • Another impact of COVID-19 is the delay in confirming our sponsors. However, we are very close to now confirming our sponsorship and will advise once things are finalised.
  • We will be judging the cars on Saturday (rather than Sunday) again this year – this means Sunday can be more relaxed after our big night out. The breakfast and trophy presentation will still occur on the Sunday morning, breakfast starting from 8am, but we should be able to finish earlier for those of you travelling on Sunday.
  • Please bring and wear your club badges again this year. This array of colours and styles demonstrated the wonderful variety of entrants from different clubs all over Australia. However, do not worry if you forget to bring your badge as we will have plain badges for entrants to write their name on as needed.

Please find our event's registration form attached (flyer will be sent out in the very near future). Our entry form can be filled in via print (and mailed as per usual) or filled in electronically – just download and save the file to your computer, type in the required fields and email back to us at gof@mgccwagga.org.au – please let me know if there are any problems.

Warm regards,

2023 MG National Meeting Bulletins

Euro Motorfest June 2022

Although Euro Motorfest was cancelled on the advertised date due to wet weather I am delighted to report that our fall back date a week later was a resounding success !

A perfect winter’s day greeted a team of Hunter MG volunteers from 7 am at beautiful Newcastle Foreshore Park. Although a little chilly Team Hunter had the set up for the Event ready to welcome the first of our 205 European marque cars by 8am.

The overall success of the day was due to a wonderful team effort and spirit of our Hunter MG members, and great support from many Euro car clubs and individuals who took the time to display their beautiful vehicles to support the Variety Club and John Hunter Children’s Hospital.

Thank you to our very supportive and generous sponsors including our major sponsor Shannons Insurance with support sponsors REPCO car parts and Tyrepower at Gateshead.

So successful was the Event that the Hunter MG Car Club is pleased and proud to announce that we will be donating $1,000 to the Variety Club and $1,000 to the John Hunter Children’s Hospital.

Representatives from both Variety and John Hunter Hospital will be attending our Club meeting on Tuesday 13th September to receive our donations.

The next Event on our calendar is the All British Day on Saturday 30th July from 8.30 on. Let’s support the organiser Hunter Jaguar Club and enjoy the Event.

My regards and thanks to everyone involved with the best Euro Motorfest Event to date
